Constructive arguments.

David and I almost never fight. In fact, I can’t really use the word "fight" for what we do have, when we have them. Misunderstandings, usually, with some hurt feelings thrown in for good measure, that we usually work out pretty quickly. He is a better verbal communicator than I am, open and sincere and honest. Sure, if I put pen to paper I can write with some amount of clarity and elegance, but make me TALK about my FEELINGS and I end up speaking with all the vocabulary and maturity of a five-year old. In this way I may be anti-woman: I’m not very interested in talking about anything, and have a tendancy to shut off or walk away, which infuriates David to no end, and I invariably make things worse.

Anyway, without getting into details, we are in the middle of one of our issues, which has turned out to be bigger than normal and probably has more to do with me but certainly has to do with him as well; so I’ve been feeling a little cynical the past day or so towards relationships and partnering and really what the FUCKING POINT is. Which is wildly unfair, considering how happy it makes me 95% of the time (with David). It will all be fine in the end, and we are very good at breaking from the "issue" and having a good time doing something, even if it is just listening to music, so that everything doesn’t feel HEAVY all the time. We aren’t all grudgy and whatnot.

Why am I sharing all this personal stuff? I do not know, really, except that in an effort to distract myself from my own thoughts last night, I decided to make some things! And now I’m going to show you! Hooray!

First, I made a little sachet with a lace swatch. I made the swatch because I’m going to start working on a lacey cardigan, since the warm weather here precludes making more scarves, hats, or mittens, but a pretty, light cardi will do QUITE NICELY in the over air-conditioned establishments in this town. The swatch itself isn’t really good for much other than looking pretty….

It's a little sachet. Good for what, I don't know.

Oh no, wait, I know what it is good for. I can put my octopus in it.

Octopus in a bag. I made it. The bag, not the octopus.

But wait! There’s more! Speaking of octopi, I’ve made a skirt! My first one!

New skirt with octopus. I made it.

The octopus isn’t actually sewed on yet, just pinned. But after this weekend he’s going to look so awesome I’m afraid David’s friend Wells might punch me out of jealousy. I think I’ll embroider some starfish on there too. And a pirate.
