So last night Davey and I got over ourselves already and went out to see Andre Williams and have some beers and make out a little, as we do. He was playing in Deep Ellum at the All Good Cafe, which was surprisingly uncrowded, given that it was the BLACK GODFATHER. I have to be honest, I’m not sure what that moniker means, except he did make some decidedly Robert DeNiro-esque faces.
Anyway, we sat down and ordered a beer and a nice friend of David’s who works there told us it was still a little iffy that Mr. Williams would show up, as he missed his morning flight due to being drunk, and apparently the band had a hard time getting him out of bed from his afternoon nap. And I was torn, because I had to work today, so a late night was not in the cards, but I understand dude is like 71 years old, so it probably is hard to get going after such a day of drunkenness and missed flights.
But he made it, and gave a really fun show. He paced around and laughed and flirted with the one black girl in the audience and reminiced fondly over the days he got girls all around the country pregnant with his babies. He was a little wobbly in the beginning, but he certainly warmed up by the time he sang "Let Me Put it In". Man, that old guy is DIRTY.
So that was really fun, and not too late. As is good for a girl who needs to go to work the next morning.
A propos nothing: I unpacked a box that had… well, it had within it the following:
What’s this, you ask? Go on. Take a closer look.
That’s a pile of money! From different countries! And hey, guess what. ALMOST EVERY SINGLE PIECE COMPLETELY USELESS. Yeah, that’s right. I don’t think the banks in these countries even take it back now, five years or so after the Euro went into currency. Most of them don’t matter, because I have so few, but geez. I have $32 of Dutch guilder and $35 of Irish punt. That’s irritating. I know I need to just look at it as a pile of metal but I just keep seeing a couple nights out on the town instead. Oh well.
But a lot of them are really nice. Especially the punt. Anyone have any creative and fun ideas for how to reuse this stuff? Jewelry? I guess I’ll just throw it all in a vase for now.
