Pack ‘em up; mooooooooove ‘em out.

We rented a new house!

We will not be in it until October, but we are SO. EXCITED. Finally, I can get back to the things I love, like throwing dinner parties and knitting on the sofa and biking to the grocery store and stumbling home from the local bar and driving much much less. It’s a little 1920s bungalow and while it is not perfect – we can’t afford perfection – it is quirky, clean, and nothing appears to be needing immediate maintainance.

There is a walk in closet! Perhaps I do not need to force my boot purge QUITE yet.

It is going to be an adjustment, paying regular rent again, but we figure there are a lot of hidden costs in the house we are in now – namely, we have to drive everywhere, and since the kitchen was out of commission for the better part of the time we lived there, we ate out more often than we like to – since we won’t be spending on those as much, that will help with the budgeting.

But I’m so so pleased. What a relief.

Also, Kim said I can take the bull by the horns and organize a Double Wide Garage Sale. Local folks, take note – if you have cool stuff to sell, I can arrange it. And if you just want to buy cool stuff, I think there will be plenty. I’m thinking the first or second weekend of the State Fair, since there will be lots of people around. What do you think? Though if it is going to be that first weekend, I’d better get moving, because that’s in three short weeks.

Three short weeks until we can try two new fried items on the State Fair of Texas’s menu: chicken fried bacon, and fried grilled cheese. I’m getting chest pains just thinking about it.
